The Warning Letter (Chapter 2)

From Chapter1 so far:

Sheth D K Tiwari, 67, is a conglomerate, the owner of a 190,000 crore business empire. He is cozily resting on his sofa. It's Friday, 24th October, 2025. Before about half an hour he had received a letter, warning him to stop his newly found unrighteous ways of living, filled with new addictions like wine and women, and also try hard to become the same person he was, about 20 years ago - simple, God-fearing and honest! But he has grossly ignored the message of that letter and just torn it off. He thinks he is at that stage in his life, where such useless warnings don't matter at all. "Nobody can touch me now, I'm that high!" - he strongly thinks. Then, he suddenly falls asleep on his sofa at 9:55 am!)

It's 10:10 am. The housemaid, Tarabai observes that her boss is sleeping on the sofa. She switches off the tubelight to facilitate his sleep and quietly sneaks out of the room. Now the room is dark. There is no sunlight coming from the windows either because of the large curtains that overlap those windows completely. It's as if it's night time! In real, everyone else in the world, is awake except Sheth DK.

It's 10:16 now. Suddenly, the breathing of DK is getting fast...faster... his eye are closed yet but his eyeballs keep rotating in those closed eyes...very fast ...from left to right, back to left...as if he is watching some kind of nightmare...it's a LIVE telecast of his bad dream:

"He can hear a commanding voice telling him something :"That letter was written by me. That well-wisher of yours was me, my son!"

"Son? You mean, I am your ssson? What? Are you my daddy, Sheth Keshavdas?" - DK replies to that voice.

Voice: "No son, I am God.."

DK: "God? How can a God write a letter and post it too?"

Voice: "God can do anything. Weren't you too preaching this thing to everyone about 20 years ago? So why can't God warn you with this letter?"

DK: "Hey, hey, hey! Let's be practical okay? Firstly, there is actually no God...I used to believe in all that stuff earlier but after gaining success, I have seen there exists absolutely no God at all. Humans work hard and succeed..become rich...live lavish lives...so where is God in all these? God is a fiction, okay...it's an idea created by the weak, those weak fellows, who want some excuse for not putting in their best efforts, not being in that frame of utter discipline, which I am in...they make God and luck and all that bullshit their scapegoat when they fail. Look at me, I am a hard worker, I am disciplined, and above all I am very successful...so I don't need God any more okay?"

Voice: "Your arrogance is at a very high level right now, DK. Beware..you are changing the course of your life now...you are not more interested in worshipping, you have started going to prostitutes and gambling houses like never before, you have gone corrupt by not giving the due salaries to your 10000+ employees for 2 months, giving false reasons. You are speaking to underworld mafia and attempting to smuggle heroine and such other prohibited drugs into India. You are thinking of starting your own factory where you can print fake currency notes...what's wrong with you, Dwarika??😡😡"

DK: "Ohfooo...you are talking like some stupid nerd...you don't actually deserve any explanation but still let me be generous enough to provide you that: Yes, I am in contact with Underworld mafia but not for smuggling drugs but for other reasons, which I will disclose later, when I become the richest guy of India by replacing Mukesh Ambani. And hey, Hey what if I even start importing cocaine and heroine into India? There is a big market here and I am a business person who thinks that he should take advantage of my formidable financial background to make huge profits from that market...afterall which other business gives a hefty 40% trade margin just like this drug business? So let me do whatever I am doing and you better keep your wise ass away from it...okay? Else you also know how powerful I am now...I can destroy you, whosoever you are in seconds...even if you are some God 😀...which I don't think you are...now just go away..."

Voice: "Are you disobeying the voice of God? What's wrong with you, son? Please don't do that. This is the voice of your inner conscience, in other words, that of God...don't tread on any wrong path...stop your advancements towards drugs imports, stop visiting casinos and brothels...instead start going to temples, where you used to go so often, before...stop all your newly found bad ways of life...be good once again DK...perhaps, this is the last time I am telling you..."

DK: "Shut upppp...will you...I don't like what you have been murmuring since last 7 to 8 minutes now...and you don't speak rationally either..you are terming my newly found highly lucrative drug business as illegal..which I don't like...and what if it's illegal? I have the guts to do any business - legal or illegal...so I have finally decided to do the cocaine & heroin import business now, especially after I found that a low-life like yourself is suggesting me not to do it. I WILL DO IT..I WILL CONTINUE TO GO TO CASINOS AND INTERESTING WOMEN, NOW YOU JUST GET THE H... OUT OF HERE..!"

Inner Voice: "Okay! It seems you have already decided your own destiny. You are not prepared to change your new path. That's bad news. I have already warned you first through that letter and now through my voice. But you have not listened to us both. So, no more warnings...may Karma decide your fate now, DK..."

DK: "What? Karma? There is nothing like Karma? And even if there is...what's Karma going to do? Hurt me? Kill me? Oh comeon Karma...kill me if you can...😀😂...

Nothing will happen to me now and I am going to become the richest man in the world in a short time....hahahah...💪🏻💪🏻...👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻 👊🏻" He finds himself punching the sidewall of the bed as he suddenly wakes up from a dream which seemed like a nightmare before.

"Ahhhh...what a nasty dream - drugs, God Himself etc. etc. " he murmurs to himself slowly..."God warning me to leave bad ways ...?😀" As if I am going to be the main drug importer for India, some kind of mafia Don...😀 what nonsense..It was just a dream worth forgeting and I have already begun forgeting it now!!" As he finishes his murmuring, he finds Tarabai staring at him from the corner door. Her gaze shows she is getting more and more sure now that her boss needs mental health treatment.

"Why are you staring at me, Tara? Don't you give me that weird gaze of yours? Who asked you to switch off that tubelight. Just switch it on and go awayyyy..." - he orders Tara furiously. She switches the tubelight on and walks off.

DK starts his routine exercises. First he starts running on the treadmill (running machine). Then he does some yoga. Finishing those, he asks for snacks. He goes to take his bath later on. By 11:30 am he is ready to go to office.

He reaches office at 12:05 pm. It's in a humungous 5 acre plot, looking attractive everywhere with ultramodern interior decoration. There he finds his son Divyakant Tiwari doing his work sincerely in his presidential cabin. Then he goes to his own cabin, the one of the CEO of DKT Cements Ltd. Smokes 4 Marlboro cigarettes. After taking 2 pegs of whisky, he calls his new girl friend, Jolly. The Russian girl immediately picks up the call. He fixes up a date with her for that evening. Then he hangs her phone call and calls upon Khalid Mohammad. After some discussion both agree for a cocaine consignment worth ₹ 75 crore to be shipped to India via the Mundra port of Gujarat. He knows he is going to get 30 crore profit from that, so he is in a hurry. He starts giving more and more respect to the drug mafia/dealer Khalid. Finally he is able to close the conversation as per his desires in terms of delivery time, quantity and rate. He is happy. But....(yes in this business there is always a "but")... but he realises that someone is steadily staring at him for some time now, at about 7 feet away from his seat and listening every word of what he is telling to Khalid, very carefully. As he puts down the receiver of that phone, he looks at that person. It's Divyakant, his elder son. With a smile he greets: "Come, come, my dear boy. Come and sit infront of me... There is no need to stand so away...this is all yours afterall.." He continues with a breath of pride,"Your dad just closed a 75 crore Deal by the way...we are getting 30 crore from it, my dear..."

"Ya, I listened the whole conversation, dad...it was a cocaine deal with that drug mafia, that notorious drug dealer Khalid Mohammad, right?" - Divya told his dad, looking straight into his old eyes.

DK finds himself a fidgeting a little bit, after hearing those stingy words "cocaine" "drug mafia" from his own son. He gathers himself immediately and now in a stiffer tone, expresses himself: "Look son, your father is a businessman and so are you. It's better if we look at this deal as a business deal and stop using words like drug mafia or cocaine etc. What we are concerned here is money. We are getting 40% profit by investing 75 crores just for 10 days...who on earth, is going to give us such a lucrative offer?🙂 So let's focus on money, okay?"

Divya can gauge each and every physical movement of his dad, who had already gone astray at such an old age. He loves his daddy very much - the way he backed him everywhere in his life and the struggles he himself went through when Divya was a kid. He has seen it all. He has also witnessed how righteous of a man daddy was, just about 15 years ago. No dishonest pursuits, no wrong company, no addictions at all - for almost three fourth of his 67 old life. But after becoming extremely rich, he suddenly finds his own dad treading the same path himself, he once strictly refused his children ever to tread upon. This all has happened after the demise of his mother Savitri devi Tiwari, during the coronavirus pandemic. After that his dad has simply lost track of what's right and what's wrong. He already had made about half a dozen attempts to prevent his moral downfall. But still DK continued down the same road, which had no future. Being morally very upright, just like his late mother, he decides to give one more shot at preventing his dad's moral degradation.

"How many times

..?" He starts while raising his voice now: "How many times daddy, have I told you we are NOT doing this drugs business? This guy, Khalid Mohammad is in the most wanted list of Government of India...he is not just a drug mafia, he is into a whole bunch of illegal things - Hawaala transactions, terror funding, supply of girls, printing of illegal currency notes, illegal weapon supply...he is a very very bad person daddyyyyy? Can't you understand thatttttt?😡😡"

"Ohhh...Shuttttt UPPPPP... SHUT YOUR ROOKIE MOUTH YOU IDIOT....YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW THE ABC of Business, just joined here since 6 months and here you are...teaching business to me???? The guy who is about to become the richest person of the country? I am the owner of this 190 thousand crore empire... doesn't your rookie mind understand thattttt? I can kick you out of my office, if you dare to disobey me anywhere now and I will make Shashikant, your younger brother, the heir to my throne, instead of you...so just SHUT UP...go back home and be ready to receive the Mudra consignment on 30th October" - DK tells his son.

Divyakant: "I am pulling myself out of this deal. I am not to be involved anywhere in it. So what dad, if you kick me out of your businesses? I have my degrees. I will go and find a small job. But, swear to my mom, I will not get involved at all in your mafia connections. That's final."

DK: "Ok then. If you have decided then I fire you from all designations that you hold across my 15 companies, from this moment. Dismissed...😡 Forget being the MD, you are not even an employee in any of them. Dismissed completely...😡😡😡😡😡."

Divyakant: "Ok, dad. I agree. But dear dad...please listen to me one last time...I join my hands and pray to you that you don't deal in any kind of drugs business anywhere. It's too risky. If you get caught in this illegal business, there are going to be very harsh implications for it - either a long jail sentence or even getting murdered by another rivalry gang...so please father, I catch your feet. Refrain from it, please, please, please!" As he says this he falls on his knees to DK, crying now. Tears drop down his handsome face. DK looks at him, for a split second. But decides to stick to his own decision.

DK: "Look Divya, I have made up my mind already. And you know very well that DK doesn't have a fragile mindset, that keeps changing its decisions now & then. Else I won't be amongst the top 2 businessmen of the country! So don't be worried about me. Okay? Maybe I might look at the moral structure of this drug business later on, who knows? But right now? Right now, I am going ahead with it, come what may...so wish me good luck, young man!"🙂

Divyakant: "I wish I could." Saying this, he leaves his dad's office complex.

DK goes to the canteen and has lunch at around 1:30 pm. After that intense discussion with his fiery son, he feels quite a bit tired. So he goes to his own hotel, located nearby, to take a nap.

Instead of a 15 minute nap, it turns out to be a long 2 hour sleep. It's 4:30 pm now. He washes his face, combs his hair, wears his highly expensive blazer and walks out of the hotel room at 4:45 pm aiming to get back to his office. He decides to walk down the alley that joins the main road, leading to his office building.

As he is about to cross the road, suddenly a black SUV diagonally crosses the road from the wrong side, heading straight onto him. He senses danger and tries to reshuffle. The doors  of that SUV open up from his side. Two guys start firing ruthlessly at him from their machine guns  - Chhuck chhuck chhuck chhuck chhuck chhuck - he receives 3 shots on his limbs, 1 on his stomach, 1 in his heart and 1 straight in the middle of his forehead...he falls down on the main road....oozing with blood, all over his body...tries very hard to breathe for a few seconds as his whole body folds inwards and outwards two times...then it lays flat with arms wide open...his eyes popping out...completely lifeless...

It's 4:48 pm on 25th October, 2025. Not even 7 hours since DK heard that strange voice warning him from treading the wrong path, the one which he ridiculed and completely ignored. And now he is dead. Sheth Dwarikadas Keshavdas, the billionaire tycoon of the DK group of businesses, lies lifeless on a road of Lucknow city.

Someone calls the ambulance. It arrives. They identify that it's the body of a huge conglomerate. It gets rushed to a local hospital where it's pronounced "dead." It's then brought back to his home after proper cleanup, folded in a white sheet of linen.

The news about the sudden death of DK spread all over the country like hayfire. Divyakant, meanwhile scrambles through the 4 pieces of that letter, which his father had received the previous morning through postal service. He is able to read that same message again which asks him to be good again, else suffer the consequences. He is stunned and so are his other family members - his brother Shashikant, his sister Radhika Sushant Merchant and his uncle Sheth Raghavdas Keshavdas. Divyakant decides to keep this matter a secret from the public, as they feel some human hands were involved in the murder of his dad. Everyone vows to keep this a secret, not just Divyakant.

A month has passed since the murder of Sheth Dwarikadas. His son Divyakant is desperately looking for clues, as to who posted and sent that Warning Letter. He is trying his level best but still there is absolutely no clue, as to where it came from. After examining it closely, the Department of Posts says "This letter was never posted through the Indian Post Office department!" Most of the courier companies too deny posting it. The signs on that letter are extremely limited. It just has a shape of a symbol that resembles the divine hindu word "Om" written at the very bottom of it, nothing more! So who wrote that message and posted it? As days pass, the mystery gets darker and darker.

After 3 months, on 25th January 2026, Divyakant gets a phone call at 12 noon, in his office, located just 50 yards from the spot where his father had died.

"Hello?" Divya tries to know who is there at the opposite end.

"Hey, you piece of shit, listen...We killed your dad because he got involved in that drug deal with that son of a b____ Khalid...if that deal had gone through it would have meant a huge loss to us...so we eliminated him. I just called you to warn that under no circumstances you or any of your family member should again go back to finish that deal...okay...as we know Khalid is again looking for sources to get his drugs into India through the western ports. If you or any of those connected to you or your companies will try to get involved, we will murder him too, as ruthlessly as how we murdered your father...now is that clear to you?" - the voice at the other end, which indeed was very stern.

Divya, a wise young man, decides neither to go into any kind of argument with that outlaw who was there on the other end, nor to ask who he was. Afterall, what difference would it make now, when his dad has already died? He knew his dad was walking the wrong road in that last phase of his life and the outcome of walking such roads is mostly of this kind. He knew this fact categorically. So he replies on the phone: "Okay, I agree" in a very silent unprovoked manner, as if to let that outlaw know that he had no desire to drag those mafia elements to the courts of law, even if they had murdered a person as close as his daddy. That silent reply was enough for the outlaw to get satisfied : "Ok then. Let's close this chapter here itself..." After that the phone gets cut off.

It's 26th January, 2026, the Republic Day of India.

Divyakant Tiwari and his immediate family now know it very well who had murdered his father 3 months ago. That rival drug mafia gang was involved in shooting at him. But still one mystery remained unresolved: Who wrote that letter to his dad, giving him the 2 options of either treading the righteous path or get ready for the dangerous consequences. A divine power can warn a human through dreams or similar things but it can not write a letter to humans, practically. Shashikant is very clear in his conception that that letter too was written by some enemy of his dad, maybe from the same mafia gang, that killed him.

"But, then there was that first option too which asked him to "be good, if you don't want bad things happening to yourself!" Why would any outlaw mafia give that option, which actually resembles something coming out from a gentleman's mouth?" - Divyakant thinks about the other side too. This makes him feel very sure that the warning letter was NOT written by any of the members of the mafia gang. It was written by someone, who wanted to first give his daddy a chance to improvise, to leave the bad ways he had adopted of late, after his mother's demise. So definitely that person could not have been any enemy of his father. He was like some deciding force, who decides punishment but only if you did something wrong. Else, there was life and freedom for you! So was it from some saint or some messenger of God? 6 months have passed since the death of his father now but Divyakant Tiwari still remains clueless about who wrote that Warning Letter to his dad.
